Base of operation: Shetland

Martin is based in Shetland but specialises in expeditions in East Greenland. In 2000 Martin first visited Greenland, guiding for a schools expedition visiting Angmagssalik. This was the area Gino Watkins explored in the 1930’s.  Needless to say he got the bug and went back in 2002 / 2004 to paddle to Lake Fjord where Watkins died in 1932.

In 2006 he put a team together for an unsupported journey down 700 miles of uninhabited Bluesville coast from Scoresbysund to Angmagssalik. In 2008 Martin established a permanent kayak base in Tasiilaq – Angmagssalik and now every summer specialises in guided / supported kayak expeditions.

Martin has considerable local knowledge, gained over 18 years of exploring and guiding in this area.  His bespoke expeditions cater for paddlers of all levels, looking to experience the wonders of paddling on the east coast of Greenland. This is still a very remote, wild and unspoilt area, where western influences have had little impact and life is dictated by the flow of the seasons.
